14 DAYS SELF DRIVE WINELANDS & GARDEN ROUTE

Day 1 Cape Town
Arrive at Cape Town International Airport where you are met on arrival and transferred to the depot to collect your rental vehicle. Your first day will be spent relaxing in Simons Town , where you can stock up on provisions for the rest of your trip or explore the coastline. Camping accommodation booked. Approximate distance 50 km


Day 2 & 3 Franschoek
Enjoy breakfast before breaking up camp and heading off to the well known Cape Winelands area. Your accommodation is booked for the next two nights at a camp site in Franschoek, which is the ideal base from which to explore and visit the numerous wine farms and nearby towns of Paarl and Wellington.You may even choose to visit one of the several beautiful nature reserves in the area. Approximate distance 115 km


Day 4 Montagu
Departing from Franschoek enjoy the scenic drive to the town of Montagu , which is the Klein Karoo are of the Western Cape . Your accommodation is booked for one night on the camp site of a working farm that specializes in Pecan Nuts and offers a great variety of rock climbing trails for young and old. Approximate distance 165 km

 

Day 5 Oudtshoorn
Make your way along the renowned R62 through the Klein Karoo to Oudtshoorn – known as the capital of the Ostrich Industry in South Africa . Use your time to visit one of the many Ostrich farms in the area of travel to the Cango Caves for some exploring. Accommodation booked at camp site in Oudtshoorn. Approximate distance 240 km

 

Day 6 & 7 Tsitsikamma National Park
Travel towards the Indian Ocean coast line and travel along the various small towns to the Tsitsikamma National Park . Accommodation is booked for two nights in the camp site. There are many places of interest to visit or enjoy one of the walking trails in the National Park. Approximate distance 220 km


Day 8 Wilderness National Park
This morning you will head for the Wilderness National Park . a charming world of lakes, rivers, fens, estuaries and beaches which gently unfold against a backdrop of lush forest and lofty mountains. You will spend the night on the park's campsite. Approximate distance 170 km

 

Day 9 Swellendam
Leaving the coast behind you, travel along the N2 through the Klein Karoo, leaving the Garden Route behind you, to the picturesque town of Swellendam . Enjoy camping for one night in the quaint little town which is leads into the rest of the Cape Winelands. Approximate distance 230 km

 

Day 10 & 11 Hermanus
After breakfast you will make your way back down to the coast and the peaceful town of Hermanus . This town is well known for its whale watching. A variety of restaurants, beaches, waters sport activities and hiking trails are on offer. Accommodation is booked for two night in a Guest House on a bed and breakfast basis. Approximate distance 155 km

 

Day 12 & 13 Cape Town
Today you will be taking the Route 62 to Cape Town . A city where there are a lot of things to explore. You can visit Robben Island , climb Table Mountain , Visit Cape of Good Hope and so on. You will spend the night on the Oatland's campsite in Simon 's Town, overlooking False Bay . Famous for it's regular whale sightings. Approximate distance 245 km

 

Day 14 Cape Town
Unfortunately all good things end and so is your vacation. This morning you will still have time to go sightseeing, but in the beginning of the afternoon, you will have to return your 4x4 at the KEA Cape Town depot
