11 DAYS 4X4 SELF DRIVE CAMPING TOUR MPUMALANGA
Day 1 Johannesburg – Blydepoort
Today drive east from Johannesburg to the Mpumalanga Province. Spend the night in the roof tent of your 4x4 car in Blydepoort, at the camp site of Aventura Blydepoort. This camp site is situated in the Blyde River Canyon Nature Reserve. We suggest you go shopping in one of the bigger towns on your way to Blydepoort, since Aventura Blydepoort only has a small shop.
Day 2 Blydepoort
Today you will have the whole day in Blydepoort to yourselves. We suggest you go fishing, horseback riding, hiking or on a 4x4 tour. Alternatively, drive through the highlights of the Panorama Route.
Day 3 Kruger National Park
This morning drive to the world famous Kruger National Park. You will have enough time throughout this day to drive over tarseal and dirt roads to try and spot the many wild animals, including the Big Five, that live in this centuries-old reserve.
Day 4 Kruger National Park
Spend another day in the Kruger National Park exploring even more areas of this enormous reserve. We suggest you plan a route through the park for the whole day and make a nice “braai” in the afternoon. Make sure you are back at the campsite before gate closing times.
Day 5 Kruger National Park
Bring along your binoculars and camera to spot the game for the last day in the Kruger National Park.
Optional day 4 and 5
Alternatively, change the last two days in the Kruger National Park into a two night stay in either Nkorho Bush Lodge or Pungwe Tented Safari Camp.
Day 6 Mlilwane Wildlife Sanctuary
This morning leave the Kruger National Park and travel south through the Malelane gate on your way to Pigg's Peak, the Swaziland border. In Swaziland, drive via Mbabane to the Mlilwane Wildlife Sanctuary.
Day 7 Mkuze Game Reserve
Today you will head for the southern Swaziland border on your way to KwaZulu Natal. There are a few nice 4x4 trails to drive in Mkuze, where you will spend the night on the campsite.
Day 8 Mkuze Game Reserve
Today spend the whole day in Mkuze's reserve. Either spend the day relaxing, or drive around to explore nature and game.
Day 9 Cape Vidal
After a morning 4x4 drive, head for the southern part of the St. Lucia Wetland Park, where you will camp on the Cape Vidal's campsite, situated in the middle of the Indian Ocean dunes.
Day 10 Cape Vidal
Spend another day exploring the St. Lucia Wetland Park. There are several boat tours available to see crocks and hippo's. Alternatively, go for a swim or try a spot of deep sea fishing.
Day 11 Durban
Today drive to Natal's biggest city, Durban. You can either drop off your rented 4x4 and fly back to Johannesburg for a connecting flight back home, or choose from one of the extended KEA 4x4 self drive tours.
